Series 10 trac­tors with three cylin­der engines can have either OPEN cen­ter or a type of CLOSED cen­ter hydraulic sys­tems. The type sys­tem is most eas­i­ly iden­ti­fied by the loca­tion of the hydraulic valves. On OPEN cen­ter sys­tems, the hydraulic valves are locat­ed under the seat with the hoses run­ning to the cou­plers in the rear. On CLOSED cen­ter sys­tems, the hydraulic valves are locat­ed at the rear of the tractor. 

Fords CLOSED hydraulic sys­tem has con­tant dis­place­ment pumps and sens­es the pres­sure drop between the com­bin­ing valve and the remote ports. Most oth­er closed cen­tered sys­tems have a vari­able dis­place­ment pump. Con­tact Ford New Hol­land before oper­at­ing a hydraulic dri­ven sprayer pump on a trac­tor with this type hydraulic sys­tem. An aux­il­iary oil cool­er may be required for con­tin­u­ous duty sprayer pump operation.
